Founded in 1951, the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) has over 55,000 members and is the nation's leading group of professionals providing health care for women. ACOG works primarily in four areas: serving as a strong advocate for quality health care for women; maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and continuing education for its members; promoting patient education and stimulating patient understanding of and involvement in medical care; increasing awareness among its members and the public of the changing issues facing women's health care. ACOG houses a resource center which acts as a clearinghouse for ob/gyn information for both professionals and consumers.

Guttmacher Institute

Four decades after its creation, the Guttmacher Institute continues to advance sexual and reproductive health and rights though an interrelated program of research, policy analysis and public education designed to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate and promote sound policy and program development. The Institute's overarching goal is to ensure the highest standard of sexual and reproductive health for all people worldwide. In 2009, Guttmacher was designated an official Collaborating Center for Reproductive Health by the World Health Organization and its regional office, the Pan American Health Organization.

Planned Parenthood Federation of America

Planned Parenthood Federation of America is a voluntary family planning and reproductive health organization. This Federation of 128 organizations operates 875 family planning clinics that provide contraceptive services, gynecological services, infertility therapy, pregnancy testing and counseling, prenatal services, sexually transmitted disease diagnosis, abortions, and sterilization services. Educational efforts are directed at specific problems such as unwanted pregnancies among adolescents. Planned Parenthood sponsors research to develop safe and effective contraceptives and to better understand human reproduction.
